A three-year letterman and All-American first-team quarterback for Southern Cal from 1937 to 1939 "Grenny" helped guide the Trojans to two conference titles and a pair of Rose Bowl triumphs. Having amassed 1621 collegiate rushing yardsas well as 2868 yards of total offenseLansdell played in the 1940 College All-Star Game and was later that year drafted by the New York Giants in the first round. One of 995 NFL players to serve in World War II Lansdell then became a pilot for TWA and gave up his grid career after just one season. Offered here is the USC hero's game used 1940 College All-Star Game uniform. The uniform top is a Wilson pullover garment with a "MAY & HALAS" tag as well as a size "48" flop tag. The jersey has two sets of three buttons (to facilitate proper fit) which are to be fastened in the crotch area. The blue satin-like shirt bears a white number "41" sewn in white tackle twill to both the front and reverse as well as ten red 5-point stars applied in like fashion to an oval-shaped gray panel on each shoulder. The gray uniform pants feature a red-white-and-blue pattern down the outer side of each leg. Padding is embedded within the knees. Interior tags note wash instructions size "32" and "MAY & HALAS." Chain-stitched in blue cursive on a gray felt tag is "Grenville Lansdell." The uniform shows evidence of light wear and remains a true college football heirloom! LOA from MEARS (A10).
