Featured here is a rare Spalding two-toned leather football helmet originating from the 1930's. The leather exterior is painted black with two white stripes that criss-cross at the top. The Spalding brand and "7 FH" (size and model perhaps) are stamped on the back. The interior of helmet features leather padding and an eight-point suspension system joined at the top center by a circular piece with "Winsor Bob" penned in blue. "Windor" is also marked on two of the interior suspension straps. The original chin strap is completely intact. The helmet is in EX/MT all-original condition with evidence of use as well including a blue paint transfer on the front exterior. This 1930s model is one of the most desirable styles among all early football helmets. Headgear of this type is incredibly difficult to find particularly when fully fabricated from leather as is this specimen. This is an outstanding high grade example of a rare early professional helmet style.
