Presented here is a rare set from the 1936 U.S. Open GolfChampionship held June 4-6 at the renowned Baltusrol Golf Clubin Springfield NJ including: a contestant's badge a ticket and a programfrom the event. Little known Tony Manero won his only major championship by two strokes over Harry "Lighthorse" Cooper allegedly getting some strategic advice from his playing partner Gene Sarazen during his controversial final round of 67.

There were 164 entries in the '36 Open and each player received acontestant badge like the one offered here. The red and white enameledfront bears the name year and site of the tournament on the front. Thereverse is stamped with the manufacturer "Robbins Co. Attleboro" along with "63" (the contestant's entry number we presume). Measuring 33 mm longand weighing 16 grams the golden colored metallic badge retains its original pin claspon the back and remains in outstanding NM-MT overall condition.

The accompanying full ticket was for the second round played onFriday June 5. The blue 3.5" circular ticket with itsoriginal sting still attached comes in EX condition with some minor creasing and the winner's name faintly penned on the front. And finally the 8.75x 12 program completes the great trio of items. Thewell-bound program has a visible crease on the back cover and the front cover has some surface wear butthe internal pages are intact and it appears EX overall. We cannot emphasizeenough how difficult it is for a collector to acquire all three ofthese related vintage golf piece together in one lot.
