Sterling Silver Trophy presented to James D. Lightbody for winning the 1903 University of Chicago Cross County Championship. Lightbody won the event 5 years in a row from 1903 through 1907. In the 1904 Olympics he won 3 Gold and 1 Silver Medal. Engraved on the front of the trophy is "CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO 1903 - JAMES D. LIGHTBODY" The years 1904 through 1907 are also engraved with no name after them. Trophy is 7 1/2" tall and 8" at it's widest point. Bottom stamped "STERLING A3020 1 1/4 PINT".
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
