This “City Edition” away jersey was worn by LeBron James on December 2, 2024, during a matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. James recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in the game, which ended in a 109-80 loss for the Lakers.

 

The debate over who is the greatest basketball player of all time may never be settled, but one thing is certain: LeBron James will always be part of that conversation. Now in his 22nd NBA season, James’ extraordinary career places him firmly on the Mount Rushmore of professional basketball.

 

LeBron’s journey began in Akron, Ohio, where he rose to national prominence as a high school star at St. Vincent–St. Mary. As part of the legendary “Fab Five,” he led his team to three state championships in four years. His dominance earned him the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2002 with the headline “The Chosen One”—a rare honor for a high school athlete.

 

That same year, he was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year and, in 2003, earned MVP honors at the McDonald’s All-American Game. Later that year, at just 18 years old, LeBron was selected first overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. By age 19, he had already made history as the youngest player ever—and the first in Cavaliers franchise history—to win Rookie of the Year.

 

LeBron’s early years in Cleveland saw him transform the franchise. Over seven seasons, he led the Cavaliers to four 50+ win seasons, including a 66-win campaign in 2008–09. He earned two league MVP awards and took the team to its first NBA Finals appearance in 2007.

 

In 2010, LeBron made one of the most talked-about free-agent moves in sports history, signing with the Miami Heat. During his four seasons in Miami, he captured back-to-back NBA championships in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, he returned to Cleveland and, in 2016, delivered on a long-awaited promise—leading the Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA title and ending Cleveland’s 52-year professional sports championship drought.

 

LeBron added to his legacy in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning his fourth NBA championship and becoming the only player in history to earn NBA Finals MVP honors with three different teams.
