This tremendous piece of lumber was issued to legendary third baseman Brooks Robinson when he was voted to the first two of the 18 consecutive All-Star Games he appeared in. 1960 was Robinson’s first season as an Oriole regular, and he was batting over .350 at the All-Star break. MLB had two All-Star Games each season during the years 1959-1962, and Robinson appeared in both. In the first game, held in Kansas City, Robinson went 0 for two during a contest in which National League pitchers allowed just six hits. He was hitless in his only at-bat in the second game, in which the NL shut out the AL on eight hits.
This Hillerich & Bradsby W166 model bat was issued to Robinson with his signature and “All Star Game Kansas City New York” custom stamping. The bat is uncracked and shows light use, with some ball marks on the left barrel and light pine tar on its handle. The model number “W166” is stamped into the knob. The bat comes with a certificate of authenticity from Brooks Robinson identifying the bat as his "1960 All Star Game Bat from the Brooks Robinson Collection." The bat is accompanied by an LOA from PSA/DNA, who graded this All-Star beauty GU 8.5.
