Following the 1995 inception of the “Wild Card” in Major League Baseball the Yankees were defeated as the American League Wild Card team in Division Series round in their first three tries ('95 '97 and '07). Finally in 2010 the Yanks broke their Wild Card slump by sweeping the Minnesota Twins in three games in the ALDS. Game 3 the clincher at home was a complete team effort as the Yankees were firing on all cylinders. The offense performed like a well-oiled machine scoring five runs in the first four innings. Phil Hughes pitched magnificently not allowing a single run for the first seven frames and Mariano Rivera closed out the 6-1 win.

This unique lot includes five artifacts from New York's first ever series victory as the AL Wild Card each piece coming with a letter from Steiner Sports and a corresponding MLB Authentication hologram. The first is the jersey worn by starting pitcher Phil Hughes that night in New York. The Yankees home pinstripe jersey has the special George Steinbrenner “The Boss” and Bob Sheppard memorial patches. The Majestic label is sewn in the lower left front tail with size “52” and “2010” hang tags affixed. Hughes’ number “65” is on the back. The jersey shows moderate game use with several light turf stains visible.

The second piece is the rosin bag used by the pitchers during the deciding game. The bag shows heavy use with the expected rosin stains throughout. The third piece in this historic group is the second base that was used during the game. The bag has the custom labels created for the game one with the Yankees and the ALDS logo and the other with the Yankees and 2010 Post Season logos. The base shows solid game use with cleat marks and ample Yankee Stadium turf stains throughout. (Getty 105124323 has shot of Jeter standing on it.) The fourth piece is a Rawlings OML (Selig) baseball used during Game 3. The ball shows tremendous use with many turf and contact scuffs throughout. The fifth and final piece is a bottle of Moet & Chandon Imperial champagne which was emptied during the celebration held in the locker room after clinching the ALDS and moving on to the ALCS against the Texas Rangers.

As mentioned this comprehensive group comes with Steiner LOA's and MLB Auth. for each item.
