This 35-inch, 32-oz. S2 Hillerich & Bradsby Genuine Willie Mays game-used bat comes with provenance from the clubhouse boy and relief bat-boy who worked the visiting clubhouse at Milwaukee County Stadium between 1955-62. The bat has a crack emanating from the handle and through the center-brand labeling, some lifting of the grain on the barrel and a bit of pine tar residue on the handle. The barrel is somewhat dried out and displays an absence of the varnish from that section. The former clubhouse boy attests to the authenticity of the bat, noting that even though a number "17" is written on the handle, it was Mays' bat, as it was not uncommon at the time for other players to use their teammates lumber occasionally.
