Presented here are two must-haves for a Gretzky or Oilers collector: two Wayne Gretzky Edmonton Oilers game issued Titan TPM 2020 Ultra-Glass wood sticks from the early 1980's that are each signed and inscribed by "The Great One." The 1982 stick is dated with a small "MAR 11 1982" stamp on the lower end of the white-painted shaft and has the "TITAN" brand and "TPM 2020 Ultra-Glass" model painted in red. "PATENTED KARLAM" is printed on outside of blade. "W.GRETZKY" is stamped on the upper shaft with "99" marked in light blue pen on both ends. The stick is not taped and shows no evident game use. Gretzky has signed on the lower shaft "To Gonzo Merry Xmas From Your Friend Wayne Gretzky 99" in 6/10 light blue pen. The best part of this stick is the delicate paint job on the blade where the incredible NHL singe-season records of Gretzky's milestone 1981-82 season are commemorated. Painted in Oiler blue is "1981-1982 WAYNE GRETZKY - NHL RECORDS 92 GOALS 120 ASSISTS 212 POINTS 10 HAT TRICKS 50 GOALS [in] 39 GAMES" with a lovely Edmonton Oilers full color logo painted on the end of the blade.
The 1984 Gretzky game issued Titan stick is signed on the shaft "To John All the Best Wayne Gretzky 99/84" in perfect 10/10 black marker. The white-painted shaft is dated with a small "FEB 23 1984" stamp and has the "TITAN" brand and "TPM 2020 Ultra-Glass" model painted in red. "W.GRETZKY" is stamped on the upper shaft. "PATENTED KARLAM" is printed on outside of blade. The stick is not taped and shows some use but it does not appear to have seen game auction. The 1983-84 season was another monster for Gretzky as he led the NHL with 71 goals and 125 assists and helped the Oilers take home their first of five Stanley Cups in the 1980's four of which coming during Gretzky's tenure. Awesome pair of Gretzky sticks to mount on the wall.
Includes Letter of Provenance from Newport Sports Museum. Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
