If you close your eyes and picture Walter Payton sidestepping or leaping over a weary defensive back 35 years ago or so this then might be the jersey that is recaptured in your mind's eye. Payton is remembered as one of the most prolific running backs in the history of the NFL but his impact in Chicago on the NFL and the nation goes far beyond a compilation of rushing statistics or records. A nine-time Pro Bowl selectee he once held the league's record for most career rushing yards touchdowns carries yards from scrimmage all-purpose yards and many other categories. He was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Hall of Fame NFL player and coach Mike Ditka described Payton as the greatest football player he had ever seenbut even greater as a human being.

This outstanding Wilson manufactured white mesh pullover garment was worn by Bears legend in the late 1970s coinciding with his earliest years in the league. The gridiron wear is truly exceptional with evidence of tremendous game use throughout. In midnight navy blue-on-orange overlay numerals Payton's since-retired No. "34" is appliqud to the front back and sleeves and "PAYTON" is heat pressed to a name plate atop the back number in like fashion. Orange and blue stripes with wide late 1970s spacing line the sleeves and situated on the left front tail a "Wilson" label denotes size "44." Attributes of game use include multiple team repairs contact-induced marks throughout and major pinkish/red turf paint stains on the top/back left shoulder. One of the finest Payton gamers extant and a remarkable treasure from a truly iconic NFL figure.

Includes a LOA from MEARS (Graded A10).
