No Brooklyn fan regardless of their age needs to be reminded about the almost mythical significance of Dodger artifacts connected to 1955 the year when the excruciating concept of “wait until next year” was finally laid to rest. Here then are two plaques and two trophies commemorating that singular event in Dodgers history all in excellent condition extremely well preserved in the ensuing six decades and in most cases largely as-issued and problem-free often revealing only the light tarnishing of gold-plated sections or nominal nicks or bruises to wood back borders. The plaques are from Alston’s hometown area surrounding Columbus Ohio with area chambers of commerce and Dodgers fan clubs taking note of the 1955 Championship moment. This is an important grouping of awards from one of the greatest managers in MLB history and in this instance awards linked to perhaps the high point of his Hall of Fame career.
