This is an extraordinary grouping of managerial contracts from the personal collection of the Los Angeles Dodgers' Hall of Fame skipper Walter Alston from his final eight seasons with the Dodgers from 1969-76. Alston signed one-year contracts every year he managed the team a precedent set upon his promotion from the Montreal Royals (AAA).
The contracts are two 8 ½-by-11-inch pages each folded with a back page for filing purposes and a line for an approving signature from the President of the National League. The eight contracts are in uniformly Excellent or better condition with typed-in sections on each noting the Dodgers' offices address the date and the terms of payments for salaries that escalated rather consistently from $60000 in 1969 to $110000 in his final season. Each are dated January 1 - December 31 of their respective year.
Alston has signed five of the eight contracts - 1971 and 1973 through '76 - along with fellow Hall of Famer longtime National League President Charles S. "Chub" Feeney and Dodgers Vice President Al Campanis. All signatures come in clean blue ballpoint rating 8-9/10 on average.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Family of Walter Alston. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
