This extraordinary trophy was awarded to legendary Dodgers manager Walt Alston for his efforts during the 1965 season when the club won its second World Series title in three years behind the stellar pitching of Cy Young Award winner Sandy Koufax. Alston directed the fortunes of the club for 23 seasons between 1954 and 1976 winning 2040 games seven National League Pennants and four World Series crowns. The trophy is approximately 36 inches tall with a silver batter perched atop a loving cup that is affixed to a wood base with four silver baseballs at each corner. That element sits atop four “gold” pillars roughly 15 inches tall surrounding a silver Olympic style figural at the center. A two-tiered wooden base features a gold nameplate across the front with engraved “Baseball Manager of Year Walter Alston 1965 Pennsy Family Club” each line stacked to four levels. All elements of the trophy seem to be in largely as-issued and problem-free condition. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Walter Alston Collection.
