Interesting collection of 4 items from Walter Alston's 1936 season as a player with the Huntington Red Birds from the personal collection of the Hall of Fame manager.
- Detailed handwritten diary kept by Alston recording not just detailed information about his game appearances but also detailed information about things like travel hotel accommodations personal expenses etc. plus his own set of 9 rules to follow when going up to bat. (#1 "Watch the ball into your bat" #2 Watch for the fast ball - you'll hit the curve too. Don't guess." etc) Very interesting read and a great look into the mind of a future Hall of Fame manager!
- Razor sharp 8" by 10" team photo of the Red Birds posed at home plate of their stadium. Some creasing but still displays well.
- Another razor sharp 8" by 10" team photo of the Red Birds posed at the pitcher's mound of their stadium with the outfield fence visible in the background. Crease at lower right corner but still displays well.
- Posed 5" by 7" photo of Alston in uniform at the plate and ready to bat. Some creasing but still displays well.
