This is a truly incredible artifact from one of the greatest pure hitters of the modern era Wade Boggs represented here in an historic piece from the August 7 1999 game in which he recorded his 3000th hit. In an 18-year career most notably with the Red Sox but also with the Yankees where he earned a World Series ring and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays where he logged his 3000th base hit. Mix in five batting titles including four in a row 12 All-Star selections two Gold Gloves and eight Silver Slugger awards and its fairly easy to see why he won a first-ballot induction to Cooperstown in 2005. The Official American League Budig ball shows considerable game use including some dirt and staining and has a striking Boggs blue ballpoint signature on the sweet spot with added inscriptions of HOF 05 and 8/7/99 3000 Game Used. That should be enough historical baggage for any piece of memorabilia.
