From the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles when the United States rolled over an abbreviated international roster of athletes comes this pristine boxing uniform from the US team including jersey shorts and headgear. With 14 Eastern Bloc countries including the Soviet Union Cuba and East Germany (but not Romania) boycotting the Games the US contingent rolled up 174 medals in all more than three times the number of the next two countries Romania and West Germany. The adidas shirt carries a wash instructions tag on the back of the collar and intricate adidas and "USA Boxing" embroidered logos on the front and "USA" vinyl letters screened on the back. As noted the shirt is in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition as are the shorts and headgear. The Large Size shorts have adidas labeling at the back of the waist and a wash instructions tag with "L" attached below. The same intricate embroidery creates the adidas logo and "USA Boxing" and logo on the front of the shorts; the adidas logo also appears along the sides in the red-and-white silk striping. The bright blue headgear appears untouched and without incident right down to the blazing white strings and the velcro chin strap. It sports three tags: ABH Head Guard Approved Official USA/ABF Specifications and a warning tag about boxing might cause injury. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
