This lot features a pair of signed basketballs related to the UCLA Bruins basketball programs. The first is an official Baden WBCA (Womens Basketball Coaches Association) basketball that holds three signatures in black on it including the late Coach John Wooden and successful UCLA Basketball siblings Dave and Ann Meyers. Dave was an All-America selection with the Bruins who was drafted No. 2 overall in the 1975 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He is also the older brother of Ann Meyers who was an outstanding womens basketball player at UCLA as well as the only woman to sign a free-agent contract by an NBA team (Indiana Pacers 1979). They all inscribed the basketball differently: Wooden (UCLA) Dave Meyers (UCLA 1975) and Ann Meyers (UCLA #15). The second basketball an official NBA Spalding sphere boasts 21 signatures in black including Woodens along with several UCLA standouts who went on to successful careers I the NBA including: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Keith Wilkes Bill Walton Sidney Wicks Curtis Rowe Greg Lee and Denny Crum. A pair of significant basketballs signed by some of the best hoopsters to every come out of UCLA.
