Here then is an amazing piece from Ty Cobb complete with two 8-by-10-inch black-and-white photos of Cobb fielding and batting neatly matted and presented pages of a three-page personal letter from Cobb written to a friend all done in Cobb's distinctive green ink. The 8-by-11 1/2-inch letter is similarly matted with the second page of the letter actually a photocopied version to accommodate display: the letter was written on both sides of the second page. In fine Cobb fashion the letter includes wonderful baseball and homespun content including a significant portion about the fate of his beloved Tigers in mid-June of 1953 and also noting that he has cut back on his number of appearances save only for a handful of Little League banquets. Keeping with the culinary bent Cobb explains to his friend "Joe" about some highly-prized garlic that he would like him to send. He signs off with an "As Ever" salutation and signs with his first name Ty. The ornate matting and framing brings the overall dimensions of the piece to 30-by-28 inches a remarkable eye-catching presentation and artifact from one of the giants of the game.
