Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired after defeating Andre Berto in September2015 ending his nearly 20-year career with a 49-0 record matchingRocky Marciano's all-time record. One of the world's highest-paidathletes of his generation “Money Mayweather” has made a compellingcase for his own self-proclaimed title as the greatest pond-for-poundboxer of all-time.
Featured here are not one but two pairs of 8-ounce Cleto Reyes boxing gloves givendirectly to our consignor by Floyd himself. Our consignor enjoyed both aprofessional and personal relationship with the flamboyant boxerbetween 2006 and 2009. It was during that period that both pairs were procured and they were each presented as fight-worn. One pair of red gloves moderate to excellent usage with white trainer’s tape wrapped around eachwrist. An interior tag reading "Piel de Res" (leather in Spanish) and "R.F.C. - I.R.E. - 790302 - S39 - C.N.I.T. - 447 - M" is found just inside the wrist with an exterior "8 oz." flag tag barely visible at the end of the tape job.
The other pair of red gloves is now un-taped but it appears to havebeen taped at one point around the wrists based on the light taperemnants. It reveals the large Cleto Reyes stitched logo with "#1" "FM" and "MAYWEATHER" on the right glove and "FM #1" on the left glove both in black Sharpie. This pair displays just as much wear as the taped pair and is tagged exactly the same too. We have been unable to conclusively photo-match either pair to a particular Mayweather bout. However it appears Floyd wore a similar looking pair of red Cleto Reyes gloveswith the same "Hecho en Mexico" stamp on the outside for his first JoseLuis Castillo fightin 2002. All four gloves have been signed by Mayweather in nearly perfect9-10/10 black Sharpie.

Provenance: This lot originates from a gentleman whohas enjoyed a long and successful career in Hollywood as an agent formany well-known athletes and entertainers. His professional and personalnetwork enabled him to amass a significant collection of memorabilianearly all of which was given to him directly from the athletes andentertainers themselves. All of these items are being introduced to themarketplace here for the first time. While our consignor remainsanonymous SCP Auctions will issue an LOA for each game used itemattesting to its player-direct provenance.
