Tony Gwynn became a member of Major League Baseballs exclusive 3000 Hit Club on August 6 1999. Playing against the Montreal Expos in Olympic Stadium Gwynn singled in his first at-bat reaching down and lining a hit past second base on a 1-2 pitch from Expos right-hander Dan Smith a rookie making his 11th career start. In doing so Gwynn became the 22nd major leaguer to reach 3000 hits and the first National League player in 20 years to do so. This lot includes a Tony Gwynn autographed fully intact game ticket from that memorable day encapsulated in mint condition. Gwynns signature in black fine-point marker is stellar rating a 9/10 in our book.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy educated and productive citizens.
