This 1999 MLB All-Star Game ring was presented to Tony Gwynn who was making his final appearance in the Mid-Summer Classic his 15th such honor. On that particular night at Boston's Fenway Park Gwynn is largely remembered for assisting an aged Ted Williams throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch. The '99 season marked another extraordinary campaign for the Hall of Famer who batted above .300 for the 7th consecutive season (with two more to follow) showing no signs of aging at 39. His final average for the year was an amazing .338 precisely matching his lifetime figure.
The elegant ring has a CZ diamond on the face atop a raised 99 that lies atop a red stone encircled by Major League Baseball All-Star" in raised lettering. Intricate All-Star Game logo featuring Boston and the iconic Sox logo with the words All-Star Game 99 is on one shank in a sculpted figural; the other has the National League emblem logo in the same fashion beneath a sculpted notation of 1912 Fenway Park. Inside of the band is stamped Jostens Auralite. Ring size 9 ¼. Weight 22 grams. Comes in a black felt jewelry box. The ring has been professionally cleaned but there is still some toning/tarnishing primarily on the shanks. The images included are post-cleaning. Overall presents in Near Mint condition.
Includes a Letter of Authenticity from The Gwynn Family.
