Sweet-swinging Tony Gwynn recorded yet another impressive months worth of work in August of 1993 after which he was named the recipient of the National Leagues prestigious Player of the Month award. He opened the month batting a strong .332 and closed it a month later with an even stronger .352 batting average. This lot includes the impressive award which consists of specially beveled crystal in a diamond-like shape that sits atop a dark green marble base. The official National League logo is embossed in gold on the front of the crystal while a gold plaque rests on the awards marble base that reads: TONY GWYNN San Diego Padres Player of the Month August 1993. The overall piece which measures 10 wide by 9.5 high weighs six pounds.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy educated and productive citizens.
