Steve Carlton was nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career when he was traded to Minnesota at the end of July joining a club that would surprise the baseball world with an American League pennant and ultimately a World Series title. The man who labored for six different teams in a 24-year career and was perhaps the last of the great workhorses with 12 seasons of more than 250 innings pitched earned his third World Series ring for his contribution adding to earlier jewelry from the Cardinals in 1967 and the Phillies in 1980.

The front of the 10K gold ring features 15 diamonds set within the letter "M" which in turn rests on a blue stone. "Twins World Champions" is lettered around the perimeter in relief. The left shank displays the year "1987 a representation of the 1987 World Series trophy and the result of the Series "M-4 - SL-3" all in relief. The right shank features the name "Carlton" the Twins logo and the American League logo each in relief. "10K Jostens" is engraved on the interior. The Twins defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games in 1987 to capture their first World Championship since 1924 when the team was located in Washington. The 1987 Series was also historic in that it marked the first time in history that the home team won every game (since that time it has happened twice more in 1991 and 2001). The size 11 ring displays light wear and is in Near Mint condition. It is offered here with its rarely seen original wood Jostens presentation box. Accompanying documentation shows a chain of custody originating from Carlton.
