ADDENDUM: The MEARS game-used grade of A5 is the maximum grade given to post-1987 baseball jerseys presented without documentation. In this case all elements were determined to be authentic and accurate for a 1988 Eddie Murray home gamer. They described the wear as consistent and light. In other words it would receive a much higher grade if it was from 1987 or earlier.
This jersey hails from Hall of Famer Eddie Murray's last season with the Baltimore Orioles before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Murray ranks fourth in Orioles team history in both games played and hits. He finished in the top 10 in MVP voting several times. After his playing career Murray coached for the Cleveland Indians and Dodgers. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2003 and was 77th on the list of the Baseball's 100 Greatest Players by The Sporting News (1998).
The white button-down garment features "Orioles" across the chest in orange-on-black tackle twill and Murray's No. 33 on the front left and back in like fashion. The left sleeve bears the letters "EBW" in black felt appliqu that were added to jerseys late in the 1988 season as a memorial patch for Orioles owner Edward Bennett Williams who died that August (card of different player wearing this style jersey attached). The sleeve openings bear black-white-orange stripe accents while the collar features black-orange stripe accents. A Rawlings main label size 46 with laundry instructions appears inside the left front tail with a white flap tag reading "Set 1 1988." Sewn in tandem with the main label is a small white swatch with the letter "T" stitched in black. The plated NOB appears in orange-on-black tackle twill. Solid even wear throughout. Comes all original as-issued and problem-free. Murray has signed the front left in black marker that rates bout an 8/10.
