Shaquille O'Neal burst upon the NBA scene in 1992-93 with cartoonish size strength and speed bullying veteran big man as if THEY were the wide-eyed rookies. The Orlando Magic's number one overall pick in the ’92 draft Shaq was expected to perform well but few could have foreseen him to flat out dominate right away. O'Neal was named NBA Player of the Week in his very first week in the league becoming the first ever to do so. He put up insane numbers as a rookie averaging 23.4 points 13.9 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per contest over 81 games to easily take home Rookie of the Year honors. The 15-time All-Star also became the first rookie to be voted an All-Star starter since Michael Jordan in 1985 and shined in the February 21 1993 contest held in Salt Lake City with 14 points and 7 boards for the East. The West prevailed 135-132 as Stockton and Malone took home dual MVP honors in front of their home crowd.

Presented here is an incredible artifact never before offered publicly: Shaq’s 1993 All-Star Game ring the first ring ever issued to “Diesel” as an NBA professional. Of course it would hardly be the last piece of shiny artillery he would earn over his sensational career. Four World Championships three Finals MVP awards and one league MVP would round out his greatest feats. But I’m sure that first ring meant something special to “The Big Aristotle.” In a matter of weeks Shaq will be inducted into this year’s Naismith Hall of Fame class in Springfield Mass. where another special ring will be added to one of his gargantuan fingers.

The massive Balfour ring made of Celestrium comes in a massive size 14 1/4 and features a rectangular sapphire-colored stone with a silver basketball on top along with "NBA" and "ALL-STAR" in raised letters top and below. The Utah All-Star Game logo and "1993" appear on one shank with “O’NEAL” and the iconic NBA logo (with red and blue highlights) on the other. The inside band of the ring is stamped “BALFOUR” and “CELESTRIUM”. It shows significant wear. After it was photographed for the catalog and website we cleaned much of the dirt and sediment that appears in the given image. The ring is sized appropriately for Shaq and according to a signed letter from a Florida pawn shop was given by Shaq to his stepbrother Jamal Harrison. The pawn broker eventually took legal ownership. Shaq’s close relationship with his stepfather Phil Harrison is well-documented as he has long considered Phil to be his real father. “Diesel” has always been a gentle giant with a heavy heart off the court and here is another shining example.

Includes LOA from pawn shop that took in the ring as well as copy of the original Florida Pawnbroker Transaction Form filled out by Shaq’s stepbrother.
