The numbers speak for themselves: 868 home runs 19 consecutive 30-plus homer seasons two Triple Crowns five batting titles and nine MVP awards. Sadaharu Oh was the Babe Ruth of Japan. He logged 22 years with the Yomiuri Giants between 1959 and 1980 and then went on to a successful managerial career before retiring in 2008.
This rare Sadaharu Oh game-used bat is signed by the legendary slugger in both English and Japanese. The bat has "made for special order" stamped on the knob and what appears to be the number “1” in black marker. Center brand stamping includes "Jun Ishus established 1899 Reg. Trade Mark Super Grade." Stamping on the barrel reads "Power Added Patented Hot & Distance". Bat shows light to moderate usage and most interestingly features a shipping label taped to the barrel showing that the bat was shipped to Walter Alston at his home in Oxford Oh. From famed Dodgers equipment manager Nobe Kawano directly from Dodger Stadium. Bat measures 34 5/8" weighs 34 ounces and given its outstanding provenance has to be considered among the finest Sadaharu Oh bats to surface in the marketplace.
