The 1981 World Series pitted the New York Yankees against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees jumped out to a 2-0 series lead, before the Dodgers won the next four straight to emerge victorious in the Fall Classic 4-2. Ron Cey was a crucial part of the Dodgers' victory, batting .350 in the Series with a homer and 6 RBI. He even returned for the clinching Game 6 after being hit in the head by a wild Goose Gossage fastball, and helped off the field in Game 5. For his efforts, Cey was named one of three World Series MVPs, sharing the honor with teammates Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager. 

 

Offered is Cey's 1981 World Series MVP trophy. The Balfour trophy features a figural golden baseball with a ring surrounding it on the top. The base reads "MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL AND SPORT MAGAZINE's 1981 WORLD SERIES MOST VALUABLE PLAYER RON CEY PEDRO GUERRERO STEVE YEAGER LOS ANGELES DODGERS." Accompanied by an LOA from Cey as part of the Ron Cey Collection offered in this auction. 

Payment for your invoice must clear in full prior to shipping. All items will be shipped from SCP Auctions’ Laguna Niguel, CA office in the order that payments are received. Please allow up to three business days following clearance of payment for items to ship. All items will be shipped UPS/FedEx Ground unless you contact us to discuss an alternative shipping method.
