Ron Cey was known for having a keen eye at the plate, drawing 1,012 career walks and having a career .354 OBP. Cey drew his 1,000th career walk when he was pitched the ball offered here on May 17, 1987. Blue Jays starter John Cerutti gave Cey his 1,000th career free pass to first in the bottom of the fourth inning, two innings after Cey recorded his first career American League home run. Cey's A's beat the Jays 3-0. Accompanied by an LOA from Cey as part of the Cey Collection in this auction.
