Rod Woodson was a standout defensive back who played 17 hard-hitting seasons in the NFL from 1987 to 2003. After graduating from Purdue University he was selected in the first round of the 87 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. For 10 seasons he was one of the leagues most feared corners as he recorded 644 tackles made 38 interceptions and recovered 21 fumbles. In 1993 he was named the NFLs AP Defensive Player of the Year. He left the Steelers after the 96 season and played for three more teams over the next seven years: San Francisco (97) Baltimore (98-01) and Oakland (02-03). He won his only Super Bowl as a free safety with the Ravens in 2000. He finished his career with 71 interceptions (third best overall) and set a new NFL record with 12 picks returned for touchdowns. A six-time First-Team All-Pro selection he was named to the Pro Bowl 11 times setting a record for defensive backs. To no ones surprise Woodson was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009 in his first year of eligibility.
Offered here is the actual 14K Gold ring that Woodson received upon his 2009 induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio. A large real diamond rests on a brilliant blue stone surrounded by raised words reading "PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME" on the perimeter. One shank reads "CORNERBACK-SAFETY" along with a raised image of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and its log beneath. The other shank reads "WOODSON" and "ELECTED 2009" on the top and bottom respectively of a rendering of a quarterback dropping back behind a blocker. The inside of the band is stamped "BALFOUR 14K. The ring which appears to be in NM-MT condition is size 11 ¾. A fabulous tribute to one of the NFLs all-time best defensive backs.
