On Dec. 15 1997 the San Francisco 49ers outlasted the visiting Denver Broncos at 3Com Park 34-17. It was a significant game as longtime 49er legend Joe Montana was being honored and former teammate Jerry Rice scored the games first touchdown after coming back from knee surgery 109 days earlier. It also inked the Niners 13th win of the season which locked up the NFC West Division title. This lot includes a painted game ball presented to then-49er defensive back Rod Woodson following that nights battle. The balls lone painted panel shows both the 49ers and Broncos helmets and reflects Rod Woodson across the middle with the final score (49ers - 34 Broncos - 17) in red and the date (DECEMBER 15 1997) and location (3COM PARK) called out in black. In his only season as a 49er Woodson pulled down three interceptions.
