Here's one for the record books and the museum: Robin Yount's 3000th hit baseball an incredible artifact defining one of the key elements of his immortality his membership in the famed 3000-Hit Club that helped propel him to the only slightly less exclusive Hall of Fame itself. Yount swatted a single in the seventh inning off fire-balling reliever Jose Mesa in a 5-4 Brewers loss on Sept. 9 1992 at County Stadium in the waning days of the season with a whopping 48000 of the faithful on hand for the history-making moment. The ball is an Official American League Bobby Brown showing visible game use including light dirt and staining. Yount has provided a ballpoint pen autograph on the sweet spot beneath an inscription on one panel that unequivocally states "My 3000th Hit Baseball 9/9/92."
