Portrait photo signed by Robert E. Lee famed Confederate General on the front and his wife Mary Custis Lee on the back. Famous image on photo was taken by famed Southern photographer Julian Vannerson during the Civil War and features General Lee in full uniform. Lee's signature has faded somewhat over the past 140 years but still remains a respectable 4-5/10 in quality. The autograph of Mrs. Lee protected on the back over the years is a strong 8-9/10. She has inscribed "Miss Fitzhugh from her friend Mrs. C. Lee" at the top and "Sweetest princess September 1st 1867" at the bottom back. Also on back is printed "Vannerson & Levy Photographers No. 737 Main Street (Two doors above Spotswood Hotel) Richmond VA." Both signatures slabbed PSA/DNA Certified Authentic.
