Rick Ferrell started at catcher for the America League in the inaugural 1933 All-Star Game in Chicago and was selected again for the second iteration of what would come to be known as "The Mid-Summer Classic" played at the Polo Grounds in New York in 1934. In all Ferrell would participate in eight All-Star Games throughout his Hall of Fame career.

Players elected to the 1934 All-Star team received impressive gold pendants like the one offered example that was presented to Rick Ferrell. This ¾ inch tall pendant features a detailed gold relief of a batter and catcher at the plate encircled with "All-Star Game American League" in gold lettering set in blue enamel. "NY" and "1934" and a pair of crossed bats and baseball appear at the bottom. "Richard Farrell" (last name misspelled) is engraved on the pendant's back side along with the "Dieges & Clust" and "10K" stamping. The charm is in perfect as-issued condition. Includes LOA from the Ferrell family.
