The Boston Braves had pulled off a true "miracle" during the 1914 season. In mid-July Manager George Stallings' team was in last place in the National League. By season's end the Braves had captured the pennant by 10 1/2 games! However most baseball people thought the miracle would cease once the Braves went head-to-head in the World Series against the Philadelphia Athletics winners of three of the last four fall classics. As it turned out the Braves continued their miraculous run with a dominating 4-0 sweep of the powerhouse A's team... and the cinderella story was complete. The offered relic commemorating that historic team is among the largest and most impressive pre-war baseball pennants we have seen and the only one of its kind to surface in the hobby. Measuring 45 inches long and 18 inches tall at the left border it survives in great condition with all original elements in tact including felt lettering and a silk American flag and b18 blanket featuring Leslie Mann at left. Some slight discoloration is noticeable at the top and bottom of the left white felt section. The flag shows some slight fraying a few small pinholes are present at the top edge and there is a partial tear about 1 inch from the tip. None of these faults noticeably detract from the pennant's magnificent overall presentation quality.
