After watching Connie Macks Philadelphia Athletics represent the American League in each of the previous three World Series the Yankees returned to the Fall Classic in 1932. New York made its first postseason appearance since 1928 after finishing the campaign with a record of 107-47 13 games ahead of second-place Philadelphia. Although not as highly-publicized as 1927s Murderers Row team New Yorks 1932 squad was an extremely powerful ball club as well. New Yorks roster included no fewer than nine future Hall of Famers making it unquestionably one of the most talented teams in baseball history. In one of the most heated World Series contests in history spurred by the Babes famed Called Shot in Game 3 the Yankees dominated the Cubs to such an extent that they outscored their over-matched opponents by a combined margin of 37-19 during the four-game Series sweep.

Presented here is the only known 1932 Yankees team signed photograph. Thirty-two of the men pictured have added their autographs including Hall of Famers; Ruth Gehrig Lazzeri Pennock Dickey Gomez Ruffing Sewell and Combs. The signatures range from 4-8 out of 10 with most enduring in the 7/10 range. Ruth and Gehrig are among the most prominent; with Ruth appearing to have doubled back over a portion of his signature to ensure its boldness. The 8 by 10 type I image by Thorne shows excellent contrast and clarity. Matted to dimensions of 15 by 13 the visible area shows modest surface wear mostly relegated to the outer edges and background with a small border tear seen at the left edge. The overall combination of rarity and the folklore associated with this historic team makes this offering a significant opportunity for any advanced Yankees collector.

Includes full LOAs from both JSA and PSA/DNA.
