Little League baseball signed by Pittsburgh Pirate Hall of Fame 3rd baseball Pie Traynor on a side panel in beautiful 9/10 looking vintage blue ink. In 1960 the consignor was 9 years old and playing Little League baseball in Penn Township Pennsylvania. He was positioned at third base with his team ahead by one run in the sixth and final inning. The opposing team had a runner at third with just one out. The next batter up hit a line drive down the third base line to his right. Instinctively he brought his glove across his body made the catch with his momentum carrying him across third base for a game inning double play. While in the dugout being mobbed by his teammates he was approached by an older gentleman who said "I played third base and I would like to sign the ball for you". The consignor has treasured the ball for the last 52 plus years and now feels it is time to pass it on the someone who will also enjoy the ball as he has all this time. Baseball itself has extensive wear and soiling consistent with a ball used in a Little League game. The ball had been signed by his Little League teammates but those signatures have been removed to leave the Traynor displaying as a single. SMR value on a single signed Pie Traynor baseball is $4000.
Comes with a letter from the consignor on how he originally obtained the autographed baseball.
