At the 1964 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan the United States Mens Basketball team won the gold medal. These were the first Summer Olympics held in Asia and the first time South Africa was barred from taking part due to its apartheid system in sports. This lot includes a pair of rare 1964 Olympic basketball programs one that covered games from Oct. 11 through 18 and the other that includes games played from Oct. 20 through 23 including the gold medal game between the U.S. and the Soviet Union that ended in a 73-59 triumph for the Americans. Both 8 by 6 programs are 36 pages deep and include the U.S. Mens roster that had standout players like Larry Brown Bill Bradley Walt Hazzard Jim Barnes and Jeff Mullins on it. The programs which are in good condition are printed in both English and Japanese.
