Pair of 1918 Belmar New Jersey Sterling on bronze art deco style trophies won by famed swimmer Harold Kruger. Kruger represented the United States at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp Belgium and is a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
1) Heavy 8 1/4" tall trophy with "BELMAR N.J. AUGUST 16 -17 1918 440 YDS. SWIM BACK STROKE *FIRST* HAROLD KRUGER" engraved on the front. Bottom stamped "STERLING CN BRONZE PAT. AUG. 27 12" AND "6533". Outside of trophy displays very nicely with some tarnish/oxidation on the inside.
2) Heavy 7 1/8" tall trophy with "BELMAR SEPT. 2 - 1918 150 YDS. BACK STROKE *FIRST* HAROLD KRUGER" engraved on the front. Bottom stamped "STERLING CN BRONZE PAT. AUG. 27 12" AND "6530". Outside of trophy displays very nicely with some tarnish/oxidation on the inside.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
