Ozzie Smith was a 15-time National League All-Star over the course of his career so it's hardly any wonder that the combination of his sensational talents and familiar moves (back flip anybody?) would make him a fan favorite around the league. In 1994 as he approached the final seasons of his career the fans responded by making him the top National League Vote Getter in the balloting that year. In light of that promotion sponsor Texaco awarded Ozzie this imposing 12-inch trophy depicting a silver baseball (3 inches in diameter) mounted atop a heavy black stone base that starts at the base at 5 inches by 3 inches and sleekly narrows to the top at 1 3/4-by-3 inches. The silver baseball has a 1-inch diameter Texaco silver star engraved on one panel; the black stone pedestal has the Major League Baseball and Texaco logos engraved on the top and bottom sandwiching the title "Texaco 1994 All-Star Balloting Ozzie Smith Most Votes National League." All that silver and stone brings the problem-free and essentially as-issued trophy in at a startling 10 lbs.
