Torch carried sometime during the relay to bring the Olympic flame to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Torch measures 23 inches in length with the top about 5 inches in diameter. The top features the Olympic motto in Latin around the edge along with the five Olympic rings with a detailed engraving of the Los Angeles Coliseum encircling below. A tan leather wrap covers the handle down to a 2" brass fitting at the end containing the LA Olympic logo. A second brass fitting about three quarters of the way up the handle has an engraving that reads "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984. The torch shows evidence of having been lit and is in beautiful condition. Comes in the original black leather like carrying case with "1983 LAOOC Torch Relay Foundation" logo on the outside.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
