From the estate collection of Barney Stein comes this large-format original photograph of the Brooklyn Dodgers celebrating on the field at Yankee Stadium after the final out of the 1955 World Series. Starting pitcher Johnny Podres needed just two runs in a masterful complete-game shutout in Game 7 as 'Dem Bums finally got sweet revenge over the Bronx Bombers. Fans stormed the field and mobbed Podres (mouth agape on the left) as Russ Meyer (#34) tried to make his way through the crowd to embrace the star pitcher. The man wearing glasses with the front of his face partially blocked appears to be team owner Walter O’Malley. A swarm of photographers and journalists are seen trying to capture this crazy moment, the franchise's first and only World Series victory in Brooklyn.
Entitled "The Ecstasy" by Stein, this 11” by 14” original photo off its original negative from the renowned Dodgers photographer's camera many years later. The reverse has a Barney Stein stamp in red. Unframed with 1" white borders, it comes in essentially mint condition with letters from PSA/DNA (Type 2) and Barney Stein's daughter.
