This on-site poster was produced for “Iron Mike” Tyson’s 11th professional fight at the Latham Coliseum in Latham, New York. The 19-year-old Tyson had burst onto the boxing scene like no other fighter before or since. Going into the November 1, 1985, fight against Sterling Benjamin, none of Tyson’s opponents had lasted past the third round. This fight would be no different. Benjamin struck first as the fight began, but Tyson floored him just 24 seconds into the round. Benjamin got on his feet at the count of eight, but a barrage of left and right hooks from Tyson put him on the canvas again. The referee waved an end to the fight without completing his count, and Mike Tyson had won his eleventh fight in just 54 seconds. This very early on-site fight poster has been signed by Mike Tyson in sharp black marker and dated “2/2/88.” The poster displays some edge wear with light staining, but considering the scarcity of this early Tyson poster, these slight imperfections are negligible in terms of the piece's importance.
