Offered is one of the truly iconic pieces of memorabilia from Major League Baseballs official hierarchy a spectacular 4 ¼-by-2 ¾-inch silver Lifetime Pass that was given to veteran second baseman Minter Hayes. In a 14-season career he batted .265 with 20 homers and 493 runs batted in in 1091 games. He had 1069 career hits in 4040 at bats. He became the first player in Major League Baseball to wear a batting helmet during a game. Minter was presented with this Major League Baseball lifetime pass for his years of service to the sport. The silver pass has "Minter Hayes" engraved on front while a maker's mark from "Lambert Bros Jewelers NY" is notated on the reverse. The engravings are deeply embedded. Minor wear throughout with some visible tarnishing on the back. Adding to the luster the pass is encased in one of the old-fashioned museum-style 6-by-5-inch black boxes with glass cover.
