Walter Payton is remembered as one of the most prolific running backs in the history of the NFL but his impact in Chicago on the NFL and the nation goes far beyond a compilation of rushing statistics or records. A nine-time Pro Bowl selectee he once held the league's record for most career rushing yards touchdowns carries yards from scrimmage all-purpose yards and many other categories. He was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Hall of Fame NFL player and coach Mike Ditka described Payton as the greatest football player he had ever seenbut even greater as a human being.

This outstanding Wilson manufactured white mesh pullover garment was worn by Bears legend in the mid-1980s. Gridiron wear is evident with scattered soiling most apparent at the shoulders and upper back to the left of the nameplate. Four repairs are present and small unrepaired holes are present at each shoulder. In midnight navy blue-on-orange overlay numerals Payton's since-retired No. "34" is appliqud to the front back and sleeves and "PAYTON" is heat pressed to a name plate atop the back number in like fashion. Orange and blue stripes line the sleeves and the George Halas memorial appliqu appears on the left sleeve (as GSH). Situated on the left front tail a "Wilson" label denotes size "44." The late great NFL icon has signed the back number 4 with his added notation 34 and his additional nickname notation Sweetness added to the number 3. Both silver marker renderings are flawless (10/10). This Payton gamer is a remarkable treasure from one of the NFLs most prolific figures.
