Bill Bradley the former three-term Democratic U.S. Senator from New Jersey is a graduate of Princeton University where he excelled in both his studies as well as basketball. He attended school from the fall of 1962 until the spring of 65 and played ferociously on the Princeton Tigers basketball team. He earned a gold medal as a member of the 1964 Olympic basketball team and was named the NCAA Player of the Year in 1965 after leading Princeton to a third-place finish in the NCAA Tournament. After graduating in 65 he attended Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship thus delaying a decision for two years on whether or not to play in the NBA. But once he made up his mind accolades quickly followed. Though drafted by the New York Knicks as a territorial pick in the 1965 NBA Draft Bradley didnt join the team until December of 1967. In short order with the 6 5 Bradley playing small forward the Knicks gradually got better until they won their first NBA title in 1969-70. With the 26-year-old Bradley averaging 14.5 points the Knicks well-balanced attack upended the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals four games to three. Just three years later they repeated the feat but this time took just five games to dispose of the Lakers. Bradley averaged 16.1 points per game that season.

This lot features one of Bradleys autographed and game-worn New York Knicks home jerseys from the mid-70s. This classic New York Knicks home jersey shows moderate game use. The front of the jersey shows very vibrant orange tackle twill numbers (24) outlined in blue along with NEW YORK across the middle. The proper Gerry Cosby tagging is present on the right front tail and below that is the size 42 Medalist Sand-Knit tag. His last name BRADLEY arches across the back in blue just above his uniform number 24 in orange tackle twill with blue outlining. Bradley has signed the 2 on the front of the jersey in black marker which really completes this impressive piece. Noticeable fraying is evident on the back of the jersey (jersey numbers as well as the letters of his name). An incredible piece of sports memorabilia from the Hall of Fame basketball career of the man the Madison Square Garden faithful used to call Dollar Bill Bradley.
