This is a fascinating glimpse into the kind of internal team documents that were used by team publicity staffers to promote their ballplayers to an American populace that couldn't get enough of their heroes. This 9-by-14-inch treasure was filled out by the the reigning American League Most Valuable Player Mickey Mantle in blue ballpoint. Most of the questionnaire information is printed but Mickey provided his meticulous autograph in the box provided. Always known for providing a careful signature for his fans The Mick took two swings at producing his autograph in the box provided at the bottom of the sheet crossing out his first attempt after it was nearly complete with the reason for his legendary fussiness not immediately apparent upon inspection. No matter: he nailed the second try with his usual 9/10 monster. The rest of the sheet includes basic background information about date of birth height weight marital status etc. but he does listing hunting fishing and golf as hobbies and lists his baseball goal as 400 home runs. Always so modest and unassuming. The document presents Nr-Mt and problem free and is matted in black and framed in glass to 12-by-18-inch overall dimensions.
