In the years following Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris' dramatic 1961 home run duel manufacturers sought to capitalize on the pair's popularity by churning out a seemingly endless supply of Mantle/Maris endorsed products. The offered child sized Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris pajama top is one of the most charming items from that merchandising wave that we have seen and is also one of the most rare and unique Mantle/Maris dual signed objects any collector could hope to own. By nature such items were well worn by the rambunctious youth for which they were intended minimizing the survival rate of even non-autographed examples. This wonderfully preserved mini-jersey is in largely excellent condition betraying only some wear to the Mantle/Maris tagging on the collar. The 3 1/2-by-2 1/2-inch Official Mantle/Maris logo patch on the left breast is perfectly intact. A blazing Mickey Mantle blue Sharpie autograph is atop the Mantle/Maris breast logo with an equally bold Maris autograph directly below. Typifying the it factor that characterizes the John DeMatties Collection this item defies every superlative used to describe extraordinary sports memorabilia.
