1902-13 Midlothian Country Club Sterling Silver Trophy Cup lot of 5 won by Paul M. Hunter. Dr. Paul Hunter was a prolific amateur golfer in the 1920s who captured his share of tournament trophies. The only five-time SCGA Amateur champion (1908 1909 1921 1924 and 1926) Hunter was also the California Amateur Champion in 1920 and 1921. Of the thousands of golfers who have competed in SCGA and USGA tournaments a handful stand above the rest. The first of those was Dr. Paul Hunter.
"MIDLOTHIAN CLUB PING PONG Paul M. Hunter July 4 1902 engraved Sterling Silver 4" tall cup. "STERLING" stamped right under lip of cup. Top of cup not quite round. Some tarnish but displays nicely.
"MIDLOTHIAN Junior Championship 1904 Runner Up PAUL M. HUNTER" engraved Sterling Silver 2 1/8" tall cup. "STERLING" stamped right under lip of cup. Great shape.
"PRESIDENTS CUP MIDLOTHIAN PRESENTED BY J. O. HINKLEY" engraved on one side with Won by PAUL M. HUNTER JUNE 1911" on the other. 9" tall cup 6 1/2" in diameter at top. Three animal horns make up handles. Stamped "STERLING 310" on bottom. Some tarnish but nice shape.
"SENIOR CUP MIDLOTHIAN COUNTRY CLUB INVITATION TOURNAMENT JULY 1911 PRESENTED BY H. B. ALEXANDER" engraved on one side and "Won by Paul M. Hunter" on the other. 9 3/4" tall cup stamped "STERLING 704" on bottom. Some tarnish but still in nice shape.
"DIRECTORS CUP MIDLOTHIAN COUNTRY CLUB MAY 31 1913 36 Holes medal play handicap won by MR. PAUL M. HUNTER" engraved 12" tall cup. Stamped "STERLING 12 IN 100 A" on bottom. Tarnished but displays nicely.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
