This lot featured the following four Summer Olympic Games participation medals:
1) 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. Bronze medaldesigned by Malcom Gear andminted by Reed & Barton. 60 mm diameter; 3 mmthick; 60 grams. Obverse has Atlanta Games emblem under raised “Games ofthe XXVI Olympiad”; reverse has quilt of leaves with raised “Centennial Olympic Games.” Presents essentially Mint. Comes in original velvetpouch and green presentation box.
2) 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. Silver-toned medal struck by Royal Australian Mint. Diameter50 mm; thickness 4 mm; weight 70 grams. Obverse has Sydney Olympic emblem surrounded by the "fluid energy" motif used forthe Games; reverse has “The Games ofthe XXVII Olympiad” above Olympic rings surrounded by same motif. Presents EX with moderate handling and tarnishing. Comes with originalclear plastic case and blue velour insert.
3) 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Bronze medal 55 mm in diameter 5 mm thick and 126 grams. Obverse has Beijing Games logo over Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium with raised legend inChinese and English text along top; reverse has five Fuwamascots over Chinese and English text reading “OneWorld One Dream" and gusts of wind below. Presents essentially Mint. Comes with original red presentation case.
4) 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Egg-shaped medal made of alloy copper. 53 mm tall 43 mm wide and 5 mm thick. Weight 90 grams. Obverse has "XXXI Olympiad Rio 2016" in English Spanish and Portuguese between the Olympic rings below and Rio De Janeiro mountain scenery on top. Reverse has Rio Olympic emblem with Olympic rings below. Mint condition. Comeswith original green presentation case.
