This lot represents an extraordinary opportunity to pick up incontestable signatures from many of the great stars of the Negro Leagues many of whom remain extremely difficult autographs and thus among the most coveted in the hobby. The forms (14) are all dated from 1990 and signed by the Negro League players witnessed frequently by wives and provide permission to use their name and likenesses in conjunction with publicity efforts on behalf of the Negro League Baseball Players Association Inc. in New York City. The consent forms also specifically include language mentioning the Perez-Steele Galleries and ostensible plans for the legendary makers of the various art-card sets featuring the artwork of Dick Perez to make a set of cards depicting Negro League greats. The lineup of signers includes (most are blue ballpoint 8/10 to 9/10 signatures): Gene Benson (Max Manning witness) Jimmie Crutchfield Ray Dandridge Leon Day Mahlon Duckett (small black-and-white photo attached) Rudolpho Fernandez (small note attached with second signature) Jehosie Heard Monte Irvin Max Manning (with additional attached note with first-name auto) Verdell Mathis Buck Leonard Lester Lockett Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe and Armando Vasquez. Two additional pieces of correspondence feature signatures from Mahlon Duckett and Francis Matthews.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
